Clay medallion fired without glaze, approximately 2.5” in diameter, on 30” 100% natural hemp cord.  Images are carved into both sides of the clay stone.
 

This fired clay medallion is part of our Symbols series, depicting qualities of tranquility.  Drawn from traditional schools of wisdom, the images on this piece invoke stillness & calm.  Shown on one side of the medallion, the sacred spiral is the oldest known symbol used in spiritual practices.  It reoccurs throughout nature, symbolizing a smooth & harmonious flow with life.  Small solid dots track around the spiral symbolizing blue lights seen in deep meditation.  Seeing this blue light, the meditator reaches a centered state free of thought & finds peace, balance & tranquility.  Moving above the spiral & dots are waves of water that show quietude within movement, much like ripples in water when a rock has been dropped into the stillness.  On the other side, a leaf symbolizes nature that abides, steady within itself, regardless of season or change.
